GSM Magazine

Sustainable Communications Design

The weight of paper is measured in GSM - grams per square metre. Most of the time, we don’t even think about it. We switch on the studio lights, paint a theatre set, install an exhibition or load the next ream into the press. Every industry has a footprint. Ours is deeper than most.

With the advent of viable alternative delivery methods such as e-readers and print-on-demand, design professionals are increasingly conscious of their environmental responsibilities. GSM is a bi-monthly publication that promotes sustainable design practice and lifecycle thinking, drawing on the expertise of Australia’s most innovative creative leaders.

We can learn to tread lightly. We can set an example for our industry. We can share the success stories. It’s all about reducing the environmental impact of our profession, one precious gram at a time.
